What was school like as you remember it?
Were you praised for having the wrong answer? Did anyone hand out accolades to those that may have done things incorrectly? In my experience, the answer to these questions was always a resounding “No.” More accurately, it was my understanding that students were expected to memorize instructions and details. The highest grades were always awarded to those that could regurgitate on demand. Were you one of those kids? Many would study for hours only to memorize something for the big test day, never truly understanding it, and forgetting the majority of it before the school year was over anyhow. In my life I have known many of those “book smart” kids that went on to become doctors, lawyers and highly revered professionals. From a distance, those people appear to be living on easy-street immediately once school is over. Would it surprise you to learn that when you get to know such people, you learn that despite their incredible gift of memorization, they often struggle to understand, and therefore lack wisdom in various areas of their lives?
Today we are going to point to a source of great returns and invest a moment's time in Proverbs 4:7 where we read that the most valuable thing you can acquire is wisdom, which is spawned from understanding.
Proverbs 4:7, "Wisdom is the most valuable commodity - so buy it! Revelation - knowledge is what you need - so invest in it!" TPT
If you’re looking to make a significant improvement in any area of your life, I want to encourage you to start investing in Wisdom today. Yes there is a cost, but you can afford it, I promise you. The cost comes in terms of time, and the investment I want to recommend to you is to read the Bible. It is my personal experience that all the wisdom you require to live the life that God designed for you, “to the full” (John 10:10) is waiting for you within those pages. The book of Proverbs is loaded with secrets that are better than anything you’ll find on how to win by the ways of the world.
Often this statement is shared with me, “I have $10,000 to invest, what do you recommend I invest in?” My immediate response is “YOURSELF!” Success on any stage, for instance marriage, parenting, investing or business, is highly dependent on your knowledge. The more knowledge you have to base critical decisions on, the greater your chances of making a wise decision. On more occasions than I care to count this response has been met with laughter and disbelief, only to find that the person asking the question loses their $10,000 and more within an incredibly short period of time thereafter. Pursue wisdom and understanding within yourself before you try to beat the market, invest in a “sure thing” or start a new business.
Start your path to Wisdom today, open your Bible (or app) and turn to Proverbs now. That’s a great place to begin.
Declaration: Today I will begin a lifetime of investing. I will open my Bible and recieve it's wisdom. "This is going to be a good day!"
