I recently had an encounter during a health crisis that exposed my lack of trust and hope. I was in prayer and in His kindness and goodness, He bought me to Psalm 33:17 – “Don’t count on your warhorse to give you victory—for all its strength, it cannot save you..”

My whole life I had been searching for security and trying to save myself. I have found moments of safety and peace in, as Psm 33 says, "my warhorses". Sourses of strength like, my husband, my self determination, my works and in my friends, but this peace could shift and be fleeting. The worlds ways of coping won’t protect us or sustain the kind of peace we are looking for.

They can fail. God’s love does not.

The Psalm goes on to say “everything He does is reliable and right- anywhere and everywhere you can find His unfailing love” I love that. We can’t hide from His love!

We have an amazing body of believers here at Ascent, brothers & sisters, who will pray you through the very real-life battles. It’s a vital part of our Christian walk but at the end of the day – it comes down to you and Him.

You may feel alone. Wrestling with the unbelief, fear and in my case lack of trust. Here’s the lie: I have lack. He is not enough, I am not secure and I will be alone. I need to guard and shield my own heart from that pain. God will leave me and He does not see me and I will have to fight this on my own. Remember the lies of the enemy can feel very real. They can describe at times the struggles of our soul.

Yet here is the truth. No area of my life is off limits from His love, not my mind, body, spirit or soul.

1 Thessalonians 5:23&24, “May the God of peace sanctify you through and through. May your whole spirit, soul and body be kept blameless…."

Jesus is faithful and He will do it. Nothing is beyond His reach. He wants you healthy and whole. He already paid the price for it to happen. His very being drips with pure love, power, truth and glory. He is our healer and our willing restorer.

The last line of Psalm 33:22 says, "May your unfailing love rest upon us, O Lord, even as we put our hope in you." The Passion Translation says it this way, "The Lord alone is our radiant hope- His wraparound presence will strengthen us – as we trust, we rejoice – Let your love and steadfast kindness overshadow us continually for we trust and we wait upon you.”

Choose to trust Him. Put your full hope in His sovereignty and holiness. Ask His presence to come and rest upon you today. Ask Him for a Holy encounter and thank Him for securing you and restoring you in His love. Only He can do that restoration and He will, because it's His good plan and purpose for you and your generations to come.
