The Incredible Privilege of Co-Labouring with God
I don’t believe there is a greater gift than to be able to co-labour with God. We have been given dominion over the earth. The Father chooses to work through us, His sons and daughters.
We were a team of 5 in Cape Haitian with an assignment to do our first pastor's conference. But shortly after we arrived, after just completing a Sunday night service in a rural church, we were heading back to our Mission House which was on the other side of the city. Cap Haitian was filled with angry people, and the atmosphere was thick with hatred and rage. Fires were already burning, and we were just able to get through to safety before the city was shut down. The next morning Cap Haitian was overtaken with riots. Richard and Claude headed to the radio station to find out how severe it was and the rest of us began to pray with great fervency. The riots we were told often lasted for days. The only way to the airport for us was back through the city. We began to pray fervently for all the lives in the city, as the demonic took over. It was common for them to put tires around people and set them on fire. But the greater one dwelt in us. We carried great authority. In praying the Holy Spirit led us into a time of identification repentance where we prayed with the people who owned the mission house. The Lord showed us how they had been treated poorly by the white man. We asked for their forgiveness on behalf of us who were white. In great brokenness we washed their feet.
We prayed regarding the anger and pain that so many had suffered over the years.
We stood in the gap for the release of anger and commanded it to subside. We prayed in unity and followed the Holy Spirit as He led us all day. We took communion together and the Lord’s love was tangible. Around 4 o’clock we received news that the riots were over. God had completely turned the situation around. The pastors that were supposed to come to the conference that day made their way out to the mission house and we were able to share with them what God had done. They said never had a riot stopped in less than a day. The power of corporate prayer is amazing.
In Matthew 6:10 he tells them “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Their job was very specific and extremely important—bring Heaven to earth through prayer and obedience. They saw Him praying often and then saw the sick healed, the oppressed set free and lives restored. Acts 2:42 tells us “All the believers devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching, and fellowship, and to sharing in meals, (including the Lord’s supper), and to prayer.”
The early church in Acts understood this incredible gift of co-labouring with God.
When Peter was put in prison and was to be killed after Passover, they went into prayer. They had already lost James. It does not say whether they had prayed before, but his loss and now knowing Peter was about to die, it drove them to their knees. It states in TPT The church went into a season of intense intercession, asking God to free him. Acts 12:5. As we know an angel came to free him out of prison. Prayer is powerful, and especially the unity that comes in corporate prayer. Holy Spirit led prayer is powerful and will move mountains.
What a privilege we have of co-labouring with Him. There are so many situations that can be turned around when the people of God choose to obey His word and pray. We carry incredible authority. We really are called to bring peace into chaos and heaven to earth.

Declaration: My prayers are powerful. When I come into agreement with God's heavenly plans and purposes, things begin to change on this earth.
